Cleans Day

Through this Isagenix program I'm doing there is 2 cleans days per week for 3 weeks. I decided to put mine on Monday/Tuesdays. These seem to be the easiest of my workout days. I'm hours away from closing out day one. There is a series of cleansing drinks and vitamins I'm suppose to take throughout the day. Honestly, with all the take this, now take this, now take this the day seemed to go my pretty quickly.

The one major side affect I've had from program has been headache. They are not migraine level but they are mild. I've had one today since this afternoon and had them a couple of times on day 2-3. I checked it out and whats happening is I'm detoxing from the chemicals I've been putting in my body like caffeine. Now, I'm not going to ever give up caffeine, especially coffee, what I should experience is after this week I shouldn't be having the headaches.

We'll see how the 30 days plays out. So far I've dropped 6 lbs in 5 days. I packed on 10 lbs within a short period of time due to depression a few months back. For me, dropping 6 lbs in a short time is not concerning. I'm still within my "heavy training weight". What I have found is that I have more energy 3 days in on this program then I did after 1.5 months of continuous "light" training.

I don't plan to alter my workouts while on this program. I hope I'll be able to work through the workouts while staying on this cleanse days. What will be hard is I get off of the cleanse after Tuesday but wake up on Wednesday for a 5:30am hour swim that always kicks my butt - hopefully it won't be as bad as I think it will.

Hocus Pocus?

Probably.

I started this new diet or should I say cleansing yesterday. It's called Isagenix. It's quite a complicated regime. You can tell because half my kitchen table is full of it's product and instructions. This is not a lifestyle change for me but one I did my research on and it seems as though the product isn't so chemically.

I had to replace 2 of my meals with the protein shack which I'm ok on doing but normally it's not easy at the start. I don't know if my head was just into it but after 2 days it hasn't been to bad. I don't feel hungry or tired and I haven't changed my workout schedule.

I have to be on my "shake day" for at least 2 days before I can do the "cleanse day". I think I'm going to hold off and make my "cleanse day" Monday and Tuesday. These are my slow workout days and I plan to spend time over at the other office so I'm not "talked" into going out to eat with my co-workers. These days will be the hardest but looking at the instructions it's pretty packed with take this at this time. Now take this at this time. And now this. And now this. Hopefully the 2 days will go by fast. I can't do more then 2 days and no more then 3 weeks in a row. I'm going to max that sucker out!

Thanksgiving will be the challenge. We'll see how I manage that weekend with family.

The reason why I'm doing this is not only for the weight loss but also for the re-boost in energy. I've been so physically and emotionally down that reaching my goal of Tahoe seems like a feat. It feels like I'm on this domino effect. Emotionally I'm depressed so I become lazy and physically get unfit. Everything sets me off emotionally and I have become unconfident in myself. Everything in my life suffers.

That's where I'm at and this is what I'm trying to correct. Don't get me wrong this cleansing is not going to be the miracle to snap me out of it. That is going to be a process. What I'm hoping for is a trickle effect. Loss weight. Increase energy. Training starts to become a bit more tollerable. Confidence goes up. Emotionally and physically I feel better myself. Like those long training days I had when I could knock out a 100 miles and then go for a easy 6 mile run. Oh those were the days. :)

Hi. Remember Me?

It's been a while since I blogged. How funny to think blogs were the thing back in 2007. Now it's Twitter, Instagram, Vine, etc.

We'll I'm going to bring back the classic of blog posting because it was fun back then it's fun now.

What's happening since 2012? When I finished my 2012 Ironman I said I was going to take up Endurance Couch Sitting. I'm happy to announce I won by a clear margin. Honestly, I had a lot of personal stuff happen this past summer that thankfully I took the year off from doing anything to be with my family.

Once things passed. I started thinking about my goals. I was in a pretty depressed place in my life and didn't have much energy drive or want to do anything. Emotionally, physically and professionally I was not on the right track.

I thought about getting back in the Ironman training again because although it's hard it gave me a drive and focus. I thought long and hard about which one I wanted to do. Yeah, I could've picked a easy one. But, one of my mottos is, "Have a goal. If your goal doesn't scare you shitless then it's not big enough." That said, I decided to do Ironman Lake Tahoe. You start the swim at 6,100 feet on a beautiful lake so clear you can see 90 feet down. Water temp is about 60 degrees. You swim for 2.4 miles then get out of the water, completely change into warm cycling gear because the air temp is 33 degrees. You ride 112 miles to a peak not once but twice of 7,200 feet. Once done with the bike you run 26.2 flat miles at 6,100 feet. All this in under 17 hours. My goal: still TBD.

What makes this hard is that I live in Minnesota. Hills are 200-300 feet to the peak. Temps are nasty. Elevation is 700-1000 feet. Breathing will be my challenge. I have troubles breathing normally so this goal does scare me shitless.

I'm up for the challenge.
